May the Fourth Be With You

And because several people I know have been demanding it, I make an observation of Star Wars Day.

Part of it bothers me because I always preferred "The Force Will Be With You Always" as a motivational soundbyte, but you have to admit taking the homonym and actually going so far as to recognize it as an Official Day is rather fun.

  2. Completely off topic, Al, but knowing of your love for dinosaurs, I had to recommend you check out DC Comics new G.I. Combat: The War That Time Forgot. great dinosaur comic. I read the first issue last night and really enjoyed it.

    1. I may just get that, always on the look out for all things dinosaur-related. I've been enjoying what I've seen of 2000AD's Flesh (which is essentially what "Terra Nova" wanted to be) and Grant Morrison's Dinosaurs vs Aliens looks better and better the more I see of it.

  3. Good call, Mr. R! And don't forget the stories that started it all, reprinted in Showcase Presents: The War That Time Forgot...

    1. Ah, I saw that up in Forbidden Planet, but alas I didn't have the cash for it at the time. Next time I'm up there, I'll have a closer look.

  4. Oh you definitely want that Showcase. Pages and pages of dinosaurs versus tanks, planes, etc. Great stuff, and some of Ross Andru's best art.

  6. I still haven't seen "Spartacus," and I have to catch up on "Game of Thrones." In truth, I hardly watch television at all these days save for one or two shows, and to be polite, I don't think anyone wants to read my rants on "Desperate Housewives"!

    1. lmao! hell why not!?I think at the least you should check out spartacus..from the beginning of course, the first episodes from blood and sand are a bit rough but if you stick it out I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the depth and the storytelling, and it's relative fidelity to the general history(I stress general,as much as it can be anyway, alot of what i read on the third servile war is vague).
my wife even likes game of thrones to the point where she wants to read the books ,so I bought her the first three...I tried to avoid it but I am the one who is skimming through them now lol.I really dont watch much tv either, i am far more a movie guy and I dont do too much of that until the kids sleep and its my day off. These are the only two shows (only one since spartacus vengence ended) I really bother with at all at this point.mho is that i think they'd be relevent and popular material for your blog. And my current guilty pleasure? punisher war zone: its every bit of a blast the last rambo movie was, pardon the pun.
      cheers

    2. Spartacus is one of those series everyone asks me to check out, along with Community, Fringe, Boardwalk Empire and Firefly. But ever since I was burned by Lost, Heroes and Enterprise, I have "commitment issues" with TV shows: I'll only watch if I know it isn't going to turn out like... well, Lost, Heroes or Enterprise. I guess I needn't worry about that with Firefly since it's only one season.

I fairly liked Punisher: War Zone myself, as an action movie with all the things that entails. The Thomas Jane one felt far too tame for such a grim anti-hero, and the Lundgren one didn't even have the skull T-shirt!
