Another new shot of Conan the Momoan (® Miguel Martins)

As brought to us from Rock via kromtaar at the Robert E. Howard forums:

Man... I don't know.  It looks very 300-ish: stylized to the max with much post-production.  That would certainly explain why the principal photography schedule was so amazingly short, if most of the film is being done in post-production like 300.  The sword sports a lens flare J.J. Abrams could be proud of.  Conan's hair looks more like a Sumerian's than a Cimmerian's.  And for the life of me I can't figure out what that pose he's striking is meant to be: I guess it's meant to be a wild barbaric attack, but it looks more like a skirling dance.  Overall, my impression is that it's shooting for badass, but fell somewhere in the "stupid" section.

It's about what I've expected to come from this production, really.

  1. Meh. Seems a bit too TORish for my tastes.

  2. We do not mention that film in these hallowed halls! It is death to speak its name!

  3. Well I could have said Red Sonja.

But that film, like the cake, is a lie.

  4. This is going to be so stupid it reminds me of an old Texan saying, that all involved don't have enough sense to pour piss out of a boot before they put it on,even with instructions on the heel.

  5. I agree, that shot leaves me with less confidence than the profile shot of Momoa.

I swear if they use 300 slo-mo battle effects I will projectile puke.

  6. Tex: even with my extreme dislike of Red Sonja, it's practically Roy Thomas compared to *that other film* which I shall not utter here. A moment of silence for the 1s and 0s.

Tommy: A good saying. Still, even wearing a boot un-decanted of urine would be beneficial to those suffering from jellyfish stings on the foot. This film doesn't even have that practical application.

Brian: there's a species of horned lizard that squirts blood from its eyes to deter predators. That's what I'd be doing if we see the 300 style of slo-mo-speed-up effects.
